The Lazarus Effect (2015)

A science fiction thriller that lives up to a true thriller themed film but has a mixed feeling ending – either you love it or hate it. A group of researchers discovers a scientific experiment of bringing life from death but in effect has caused an irreversible situation that they might regret in the end. Olivia Wilde was memorable here as the lead character Zoe. While Wilde’s performance and other casts gave a strong performance act to remember it cannot be said to the plot of the story. The Lazarus Effect effectively gives the scares and thrill of a real thriller movie but the story is shallow and leave many loopholes in the story. The cliffhanging ending wasn’t also enough for it earn a higher ranking in movies with this kind of theme as it leave more questions unanswered in the movie. Characterization of the lead characters were also shallow and not in-depth making its characters less interesting and further leaving more unanswered questions.  The Lazarus Effect could have been a remarkable thriller science fiction film if it hadn’t been a film with so many unanswered plots. But it is still worth to watch if you’re into a movie night marathon or weekend movie trip.
